My name is Thad, and I've got a great story to tell you about. First off, let me start by saying that I've never been that into fitness. As a kid, I was always the one playing chess and board games inside while the other kids were out running around playing sports. I loved to eat, but hated to exercise. Because of that, of course I was always slightly overweight.
As a kid, I didn't think much about it, but my weight and fitness started to wear on me as I became older. By the time I was in college, I was significantly overweight and had terrible self esteem. I knew that my weight was the source of my problems, but I didn't know what to do about it. I tried all sorts of diets, but nothing seemed to work. And exercise certainly wasn't something that I really wanted to try!
After college, I made it out into the working world, still overweight and still depressed. I had a standard cubicle job that paid the bills, but it wasn't very satisfying. I didn't think I had much going for me until the day I met Laura. Somehow this amazing woman actually had an interest in me and wanted to spend time with me. I won't bore you with the details, but we ended up getting married several years ago.
Since we've been married, Laura has told me that she doesn't care about my weight, but it still bothers me. She is in great shape, and I always felt like I was slowing her down.
